A text source: an object that produces a string for UI text. A view controller uses text sources to put driver values and localized strings into the text of its elements, through the tooltip and text bindings of a LogicDriverViewEntry. A text binding pairs a placeholder token such as @CurrentGrit@ with a text source, and the text of the source replaces the token in the element's localized text.

A text source that reads a driver evaluates it for the source of its holder. In a LogicDriverViewController that is the local player's champion. ILogicFloatDriver describes how drivers are evaluated.

A text source works in three steps:

  1. When the bin is loaded, it resolves the strings that do not change, such as a localized format string.
  2. When its holder starts, it builds its text for the first time.
  3. On each update of its holder, it builds the text again. A source that reads a driver or a game state builds a new text only when its input has changed.

A constant text source builds its text once at load and does not update.
